My Review of The Boys Season 4 episode 6: Dirty Business

The Boys learn that Tek Knight is hosting a party at his mansion with Neuman and some of The Seven in attendance; they infiltrate the party by disguising Hughie as the Supe Webweaver. The Deep tells a skeptical Black Noir II that he must be violent. When Tek Knight discovers Hughie's identity, Annie, Kimiko, and M.M. enter the mansion to rescue him. M.M. shoots Sage in the head before he has a panic attack; A-Train saves M.M., rushing him to the hospital, and Sage survives, although she acquires brain damage. Annie and Kimiko save Hughie and restrain Tek Knight. The three antagonize Tek Knight until he reveals that Homelander and Sage plan to use his prisons as internment camps for dissidents and threats before he is killed by his butler Elijah. Following the attack on Sage, Homelander and Neuman convince the congressmen to rally against Singer. Firecracker tells Homelander about her encounter with Annie, realizing that the mole is still alive; the two become intimate when she feeds him her breast milk. Meanwhile, Butcher forces Sameer to replicate and enhance the virus strong enough to kill Homelander. When Sameer reveals that enhancing the virus could potentially kill every Supe on Earth, Butcher is pressured by Joe to continue but discovers he is a hallucination as the real one died years ago.

“Dirty Business” lives up to its name in more ways than one. It’s an example of what The Boys does best, reminding me of “Herogasm” or other finely-tuned episodes that succinctly fixate on an all-inclusive storyline. There’s minimal bouncing around and a lighter touch compared to the sluggish downer that’s been Season 4 thus far. It’s as balanced as we’ve seen The Boys this season. Everyone delivers a spotlight moment, the commentary hits like a sack of bricks, and the episode flows without bottoming out on speedbumps or taking detours. Let's hope The Boys stays on target in the last two episodes, although there’s still a ton of ground to cover before Season 4 wraps
